DIY Kites!

11:30 am – 3:15 pm

 Learn the art of kite making and fly your very own creation with friends and family!

Don’t have a kite and feel like you’re missing out on all the fun? Not to worry because we have you covered! Join expert instructors for a 45-minute free workshop to create, decorate, and fly your personalized kite. With experienced professional Anne Sloboda from Boreal Kites guiding you through the fun and interesting process, everyone is sure to have a blast! Along with instructor held workshops, there will be ready to assemble kite kits also available. Whichever method you choose to make your kite, no experience or materials are needed to attend, just come ready to learn and to have a great time!

BYOK: Bring Your Own Kite

Come fly with us! 

Feel free to bring your own kite and join your neighbors on a field dedicated to public flying. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced kite flier, bring out your kites and join your neighbors for an afternoon of kite flying fun. Please note that ‘Manja’ kites line and kite battles are not allowed on the public flying field. Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience to all KiteFest attendees.

Hot Air Balloon Rides

9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Up, up, and away!

Hop into a tethered hot air balloon and make your way up 45 feet to catch a breathtaking aerial view of kites soaring around you, making for a great photo opportunity! Make your way up into the sky in groups of 2 adults, or 3 children and wave to your family and friends below! Note that this activity is weather permitting, and at the discretion of the flight operator.

Kids Korner

11:00 am – 4:00 pm

An array of amazing activities sure to put a smile on your face!

Make your way through the many stations in the Kids Korner featuring fun and exciting games. Although the games might be for the kids, fun is guaranteed for the entire family! The Kids Korner is presented by Upwards Sports and will feature multiple stations of games and fun activities.

Face Painting, Henna Tattoos & Twisty Balloons

Fun for the entire family!

Stop by and get a Canada flag painted on your cheek to celebrate Canada’s 150th, an intricate henna tattoo, or a fun twisty balloon as a souvenir from your fun packed a day at KiteFest!

Food Fundraiser

11:00 am – 4:00 pm

What’s a festival without some food?

Come and visit the food fair for a variety of sweet and savory treats! All net proceeds from food purchased with tickets will go towards Eden Food for Change, helping residents in our community and beyond to get access to nutritionally balanced groceries. Other vendors will be present and will charge cash for food items. Please note that these vendors that charge cash for food are for-profit. Some of the many types of food that will be offered at KiteFest are the following!

Cultural Kites Exhibition

11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Let us all bring our cultures together to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary!

While at KiteFest, check out the display of traditional kites from countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Take a kite home! Some of these beautiful kites will be for sale thanks to our kite vendors, the Montreal Kite Club and Blue Sky Kites. Prices will range from $3 to $25.

Local Media & Press

A variety of media outlets will be present during KiteFest to record, document, and share the experience with residents in the area. Along with mainstream media and news coverage, we are thrilled to be featured on a variety of platforms appealing to those of different cultures, such as radio stations and live broadcasts. We also invite any amateur photographers to come and take photos of the spectacular kite flying showcase as it boasts breathtaking views and make for a great photo opportunity!
