Tile Painting – I am Canada
The Churchill Meadows Residents Association in partnership with the Canada Day Together Festival present: “I Am Canada: A Visual Art Depiction”
You are invited to commemorate the 150th celebration of Canada by participating in a unique tile painting activity called “I Am Canada: A Visual Art Depiction” at the Canada Day Together Festival on July 1st.
Those taking part will have the opportunity to express their idea about what it means to be Canadian by decorating a 4-inch by 4-inch ceramic tile. You can paint a word, a symbol or a picture – let your creativity shine!
The painted tiles will remain with the festival organizers. They will be kiln-fired and stored by our partner Crock-a-Doodle Meadowvale, a pottery painting business located in the Brittany Glen Plaza.
With the support of Ward 10 Councillor Sue McFadden, it is the committee’s intention that the individual 4″x4″ tiles be assembled together to form a large mosaic that would be presented to the city as a public art installation in the new Churchill Meadows Community Centre currently being designed and constructed. Should we surpass our goal of 700 tiles, the mosaic would exceed 80 square feet (10×8) – a considerable size! This would serve as a lasting legacy of Canada’s sesquicentennial
We wish to thank the City of Mississauga who have graciously provided grant funding to support this initiative through its 2017 Culture Projects Grant
