A local Churchill Meadows resident will be hosting a charity garage sale and all proceeds will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
Here’s her story,
Late last year my cousin, who was only 25 years old at the time, was diagnosed with Lymphoma. She underwent many rounds of chemotherapy, and thankfully the prognosis at this time is extremely positive. She had youth and strength on her side.
My family wanted to do something to support the organizations that have helped support her during her ordeal, and where the donations could be used to help others.
My young sons (ages 12 and 9) came up with the idea of a fundraiser where we could donate 100% of money raised to the LLSC. When I thought of the idea of a garage sale, they not only helped to look for items in our house that we could donate, but have willingly given up many of their own items. We then reached out to our friends and family to also provide items and help on the date of the event, and we have had great response as well.
In addition, my cousin is also participating in the “Night the Light” Walk hosted by LLSC, and she has requested that a portion of the proceeds raised could be used to reach her fundraising goal.
It’s a heartwarming story, let’s come together as a community and support a worthy cause.
